John W. Wroten, Jr.

Advisory Board

Mr. John Wroten retired in 2005 after 36 years with EDS, concluding with 12 years as Vice President of EDS Administration which included Corporate Security, Real Estate, Employee Services and Aviation.  Mr. Wroten joined EDS in 1969, as a member of the company’s Systems Engineering Development Program.  Previous areas of responsibility include Corporate Purchasing, Equipment Financing, as well as responsibility at both the regional and local levels for customer accounts in State and Local Government Services, Medicaid, and Life Insurance Divisions.

Prior to joining EDS, Mr. Wroten served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years, attaining the rank of Captain before resigning his commission.  He graduated with a B.S. in Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.

He serves as Chairman of the Military Academy Selection Board for Congressman Sam Johnson; Chairman of the North Zone Subcommittee and member of the Finance Committee, Texas Health Resources; Co-Founder and Emeritus Director of the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation; and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum and as a Blue and Gold Information Officer for the U.S. Naval Academy.  Honors received include Texas Health Resources 2009 Katie and John Jackson Volunteer Leadership Award and the Plano Chamber of Commerce 1995 Citizen of the Year Award. 

Mr. Wroten previously served as Chairman of the McKinney Airport Development Corporation; Chairman, and member, of the Board of Trustees of Presbyterian Hospital of Allen;   Chairman of the Collin County Private Industry Council;  Chairman of the North Central Texas Workforce Development Board; member of Texas Workforce Investment Council; Chairman of the Plano Chamber of Commerce; Vice President of the Plano Economic Development Board; and as a member of the board of directors of Systems Health Providers (Texas Healthcare Resources); Presbyterian Hospital of Plano; Texas Stampede; North Texas Commission; Plano ISD Education Foundation; Heritage Farmstead Museum; Plano Junior League Advisory Board; and Geo-Marine Corporation.
